Are Magic Mushrooms Illegal in Vancouver, BC?
It’s a question we hear all the time: Are magic mushrooms legal in Vancouver?
And honestly, it’s a great one. Because the laws around psilocybin in Canada, and especially in Vancouver, are evolving fast. So let’s talk about it.
What’s the Current Legal Status of Magic Mushrooms?
Technically, psilocybin is still listed as a controlled substance under Canada’s Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. That means it’s not legally approved for general use.
But here’s where things get interesting. In Vancouver, enforcement around psilocybin is shifting. The city has taken a more progressive approach, with growing public support and increasing research suggesting that psilocybin may help with conditions like anxiety, depression, PTSD, and more.
So while magic mushrooms aren’t technically legal, they’re also not being actively targeted the way they once were, especially when used for medical or wellness reasons.
So, How Does Zoomers Fit Into This?
Great question.
Zoomers Dispensary is Canada’s first medical psilocybin dispensary, and we operate under a health-focused, membership-based model.
- You must be 19 or older
- You must provide a medical reason or diagnosis, or speak with one of our Naturopaths or Nurses
- All consultations are free and confidential
Once approved, you can shop in-store at our Granville Street location in Vancouver or buy psilocybin products online, with shipping across Canada.
Why This Matters
This isn’t about partying, it’s about mental wellness, creativity, and self-discovery. And Vancouver is one of the few cities leading the way in supporting safe, informed access to psilocybin products.
So, are mushrooms illegal in Vancouver?
Technically yes. But in practice, the city is embracing a more open, thoughtful approach to psilocybin access, especially when it’s done responsibly, with guidance and education.
At Zoomers, we’re proud to be part of that shift.
If you’ve been wondering whether it’s time to explore psilocybin, we’re here to guide you from your first question to your first dose.
