Can You Travel with Psilocybin in Canada?

So, you’ve stocked up on your magic capsules or picked up a few dried mushroom strains from your favourite Vancouver dispensary (hi from Zoomers!), and now you’re packing for a trip. You pause and wonder:

Can I bring magic mushrooms on a plane in Canada?

It’s a fair question, and one we hear every once in a while. So, let’s break it down.

What’s the Law on Psilocybin in Canada?

As of now, psilocybin is still listed as a Schedule III substance under Canada’s Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. That means it’s illegal to possess, distribute, or transport it without special government permission (which is rare).

Even though cities like Vancouver are taking a more open-minded approach and you can legally shop at places like Zoomers with a health consultation, those protections don’t apply at airports or borders.

Can You Fly Domestically with Psilocybin?

Technically, no. Even flying within Canada with mushrooms in your carry-on or checked bag is a legal risk. Airport security (CATSA) isn’t actively searching for psilocybin, but if they find it, they’re required to notify authorities.

And while cities like Vancouver or Toronto might be more lenient, your destination airport could be different. So even if your purchase was legal, your landing point might not be as friendly.

Bottom line: Don’t fly with psilocybin. It’s not worth the risk.

What About Road Trips?

Driving across provincial lines with mushrooms is still considered transporting a controlled substance. If you’re pulled over and searched, you could be charged even if you’re carrying a small personal amount.

The rules don’t change just because you’re in a car instead of a plane.

Is It Safer to Order When You Arrive?

Yes. If you’re a Zoomers member, you’re in luck, we offer Canada-wide delivery. That means you can skip the stress of packing mushrooms and simply order them to your destination. You can buy shrooms online easily.

What About International Travel?

This one’s easy: don’t do it.

Crossing international borders with psilocybin even to countries where it’s decriminalized, can get you in serious legal trouble. Customs officers follow strict rules. Penalties can include fines, jail time, or permanent bans.

Even carrying a single capsule for personal use isn’t worth it.

So, What’s the Safe Way to Travel with Mushrooms?

Here’s what we recommend:

• Don’t pack any psilocybin in your luggage
• Finish your supply before leaving
• Order online from Zoomers to your travel destination (we only ship within Canada, though!)

This way, you stay legal, stress-free, and still get the mushrooms you trust.
